Pesto
recipe found on epicurious.com, from Gourmet in September 2002.
Servings: Makes about 1 1/3 cups.
3 large garlic cloves
1/2 cup pine nuts
2 oz Parmigiano-Reggiano, coarsely grated (2/3 cup)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
3 cups loosely packed fresh basil
2/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil

Well, I’m back from India to find that my garden is in pretty decent shape. There’s an abundance of tomatoes, some of which I’ve frozen. I checked the mallow and the peppers this morning and didn’t see any aphids. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that my hosing and the rain and the bugs have taken care of the little pests.
